The film follows Bilbo Baggins who joins Gandalf the Grey and a company of thirteen dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield in an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Their journey involves encounters with goblins, orcs, wargs, giant spiders, shapeshifters and sorcerers. Bilbo crosses paths with Gollum on the shores of an underground lake, coming into possession of the “precious” ring that will change his future forever.
